## Brief

- Lima is known for its excellent food scene. Local specialties to try include ceviche, tiradito, lomo saltado, anticuchos, causa limeña and pisco sour.
- Allow extra time for journeys between Lima and Callao, especially when travelling to or from Jorge Chávez International Airport.
- Traffic is often slow and unpredictable. Use reputable app-based taxis or hotel-arranged transport rather than hailing taxis on the street.
- Coastal Lima is usually overcast and mild in October, with little rain. Strong sun can still occur during breaks in the cloud cover.

- A state of emergency remains in force in Lima and Callao because of violent crime, with an increased security presence.
