## Brief

- Easter Island is extremely remote, with most visitors arriving via Santiago. Allow extra time for flight disruptions and carry essential medicines, as specialist services and replacement supplies are limited.
- Plan visits to Rapa Nui National Park in advance. The main attractions include the moai at Ahu Tongariki, Rano Raraku quarry, Orongo and Anakena.
- Try local Polynesian-influenced food such as fresh tuna, ceviche, seafood prepared in an umu earth oven, sweet potatoes and taro. Restaurants and groceries can be expensive because of the island’s isolation.
- Rental vehicles, especially cars, require caution on rough or unmarked roads. Drive slowly around horses, cattle and other free-roaming animals.

## Safety and health
