## Brief

- Try local specialties such as **batar da’an** (corn, beans and pumpkin stew), grilled seafood, **ikan pepes** and Timorese coffee.
- Dili is a relatively small, developing capital. Allow extra time for road travel, particularly outside the city, and arrange reliable transport for excursions to Cristo Rei, Atauro Island or other coastal areas.

The best time to visit Dili is June to September, when conditions are sunny and dry for beaches, diving, sightseeing and inland journeys.
