Safety and health
- Dengue is a year-round risk in Cambodia, with a current global travel notice listing Cambodia among affected countries. Use repellent, wear long sleeves and trousers, and choose screened or air-conditioned accommodation. Zika is also mosquito-borne and is particularly relevant to pregnancy planning (
cdc.gov).
- Avoid wading or swimming in untreated freshwater, including streams, ponds and lakes, because of schistosomiasis. After heavy rain, avoid floodwater, mud and soil, and cover cuts to reduce the risk of melioidosis (
- Tap water and some ice may be unsafe. Use sealed bottled or properly treated water, and be cautious with raw produce washed in untreated water. Medical facilities in Siem Reap are limited and serious cases may require evacuation, so comprehensive travel insurance with medical evacuation cover is advisable (

- A yellow-fever vaccination certificate is required for travellers aged one year and over arriving from a country with yellow-fever transmission, including qualifying airport transits of more than 12 hours.
